Alexia is an award-winning journalist and writer who was born in Kuwait and grew up in Egypt and the U.S.
She’s worked as an editor for Vox and as an executive producer for Al Jazeera. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Guardian, The Nation, The Paris Review (online), and elsewhere. Alexia attended the University of California, Berkeley’s graduate school of journalism and completed a year-long Arabic fellowship at the American University of Cairo, where she reported on the 2013 military coup, Rabaa massacre and political transition.
Alexia also holds an MFA from The New School. She’s participated in the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and Aspen Words, and received support from the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference. She’s currently at work on a book.
